i try to write
for you and for me and for the soul of the world
i try to write
about things and people and events that seem important to our growth
i try to write
when the moon is high and when the sun is low
when the stars are born and when the grass grows
i try and try
and only when i try does it really happen
but then
for some unknown reason i stop trying
and i sit back
and i read my attempts and sometimes i think they aren't too great
some other times i think they should be required reading for all students
then i come back to reality
and i try to bend it and re-shape it with the chisel of my thought and the rock of my sentence
i chip away
i tell you to breathe
even though i forget to
sometimes
...
imagine what would happen if all the people alive in the world right now took a deep breath at exactly the same moment
imagine
the rolling wave of peace
imagine the ozone being cleaned by our own lungs
imagine what would happen if all the people alive in the world right now
decided to hum
long and uninterrupted
it would be so very loud
that maybe we wouldn't be able to hear our bad thoughts anymore
imagine what would happen if all the people alive in the world right now
started caring about one another
imagine how that would feel
feel how that would imagine
itself
into
existence
